Sante Arcangeli 2013 “Tank’d” Chardonnay

Split Rail Vineyard-Santa Cruz Mountains

Every year we like to hold back a small amount of our Split Rail Chardonnay and ferment/age it in stainless steel, in an effort to showcase the true nature of mountainous Split Rail Vineyard’s minerality and floral/tropical aromas. The 2013 incarnation features hi-toned citrus, pineapple and bright acidity, with subtle savory notes from the vineyard’s signature stony minerality.  Think brie and apples.. Extremely aromatic and food-friendly.  Try it with Fuji apples & brie. Should age very gracefully. Serve chilled.

Franciville Vineyard, Estate

This vintage pours a pretty garnet colored wine with scents of pomegranate and cranberry in the glass. Raspberries and cranberries roll across the palate accompanied by spice notes of nutmeg, cloves, and a dusting of cinnamon. The smooth finish is lovely!

Lexington 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon

Gist Vineyard, Santa Cruz Mountains

The 2011 vintage produced structured Cabernet with darker fruit and good weight. The wines have a sturdy character to them that suggests they will age quite well.  The nose is exotic in classic Santa Cruz Mountains fashion: forest floor, orange peel and black cherry. The mouth has a slightly darker fruit profile with snappy acidity, mountain tannin and good concentration. We think this is a classic vintage of Cabernet, one that will likely live for a decade plus.

Santa Cruz Mountains

Although a mere mile away from Mount Eden as the crow flies, the terroir here is different and it shows. Medium ruby color, complex, earthy red fruit nose, the wine has a suave texture on the palate with richness and balancing elegance. This is a classic Pinot Noir reflective of its unique peak. This Pinot Noir is a mosaic of different selections and clones grown at Domaine Eden: Dijon clones 777, 667 and 828 reside alongside the historic California selections Mount Eden, Calera and Swan.  Each parcel is farmed to Mount Eden’s strict standards of sustainability, dry farming and low yields.
