Our History

About Vinocruz

Vinocruz was founded over 10 years ago with a focus on Santa Cruz Mountain wines.  With an array of micro-climates and rich soil, the SC Mountain AVA allows for an amazing and unique growing region (which is often under appreciated).  Vinocruz set out to shine a light on the high level of wine producers and showcase what this area is capable of.

Previously located in Abbott Square in Downtown Santa Cruz, Vinocruz offered daily wine tasting, a great local wine club and was the most extensive bottle shop focusing on local wines.

We are now located in Soquel Village and have added an impressive selection of wines by the glass (45+), local beers, ciders and excellent food pairings.  Our large redwood bar and handmade tables offer a cozy, but modern dining experience.  Our goal is to be your go to location for a slightly upscale wine bar in Santa Cruz County.

WINE LIST

The Santa Cruz Mountains American Viticultural Area (AVA), recognized in 1981, was the first AVA in the nation to be defined by its mountain topography. The wineries that flourish in these mountains are for the most part small, family-owned, boutique operations — many don’t have tasting rooms and are rarely open to the public.

Located in Soquel Village, Vinocruz offers the largest selection of Santa Cruz Mountains wines — more than 60 wines from wineries operating within the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. We also serve great local beer, cider and fantastic food.

The Santa Cruz Mountains produce some of the world’s finest wines. For decades this has been somewhat of a secret California Wine Country, but word is starting to get out. People in the know have been enjoying Santa Cruz wines for decades — we want to welcome you to join them. Drop by for a tasting!

Excellent wine should be paired with excellent food.  We partnered with Executive Chef Anthony Kresge to create a selection of small to mid-size plates done well.  With over 30 years in the industry and roots in Napa, Chef Anthony has the experience and palate to create beautiful dishes that pair well with great wine.

From oysters and champagne, to delicious blue corn tacos and pinot noir, we have something for just about everyone.  Our menu changes frequently based on what is seasonally available, so ask your server about any specials.
